Transferring Your Domain to Double Hosting

Transferring your domain consolidates your domain and hosting under one account, simplifying management and renewal. Transfers take 5–7 days and require your domain to be unlocked.

Before You Transfer

  • Your domain must be at least 60 days old and not transferred in the last 60 days
  • The domain must be unlocked at your current registrar
  • You need the EPP/Auth code from your current registrar
  • Ensure WHOIS email contact is accessible β€” a confirmation will be sent there

Step 1: Unlock Your Domain

Log in to your current registrar and find the domain lock setting (often labelled "Registrar Lock" or "Transfer Lock"). Disable it. Then request the EPP/Authorization Code (also called the transfer key) β€” it will be emailed to your WHOIS contact address.

Step 2: Initiate the Transfer

In your Double Hosting dashboard, go to Domains > Transfer a Domain. Enter your domain and the EPP code. Proceed through checkout. Transfer is included in the cost of one year's renewal at Double Hosting rates.

Step 3: Approve the Transfer

You'll receive an email at your WHOIS contact address asking you to approve the transfer. Click the approval link. The transfer then completes within 5–7 days. Your site remains live throughout the process.
