Understanding Proration and Billing Cycles

Proration ensures you pay fairly when changing plans mid-cycle. This guide explains how billing cycles work and how prorated charges are calculated.

Billing Cycles

Double Hosting offers monthly, annual, and multi-year billing. Annual and longer plans come at a discounted rate. Your billing cycle starts on the day you activate the service and renews on the same date each period.

How Proration is Calculated

If you upgrade mid-cycle, you're credited for unused time on the old plan and charged for the remaining time on the new plan. Example: you upgrade on day 15 of a 30-day cycle from a $10/month plan to a $20/month plan β€” you're charged $5 (half of the $10 difference).

Annual Plan Proration

Annual plans are not prorated for cancellation beyond the refund window β€” they run until their expiry date. Upgrades from annual plans follow the same proration calculation based on remaining days in the annual cycle.
